More and more frequently, we are seeing incidents such as this one where students, trying to behave responsibly, are challenged and end up with the short end of the stick. As a journalism teacher, I am deeply concerned about the erosion of student free speech rights regardless of where they happen. The students did the right thing by offering the story to district lawyers before publishing it.
